Cumbria has a number Independent Sexual Violence Advisors, based with Victim Support and commissioned by the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner.
ISVA's provide specialised support to victims of sexual violence, prioritising high risk victims. Their main responsibilities include; advice and support: providing non-therapeutic support to victims at the point of crisis and beyond, along with other types of practical help and advice; Where required, giving information and assistance and support through the criminal justice process; Multi-agency partnership working on behalf of the victim: liaising with partner agencies in a multi-agency context.

The Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner has in partnership with North Cumbria and Morecambe Bay Health Trusts introduced 2 new Independent Domestic and Sexual Violence Advisors to the North and South Hospitals for a period of 3 years.
They are based with the Safeguarding Teams with the Hospital Trusts and will provide specialised support to victims of domestic and sexual violence when admitted to hospital; they will offer practical help and advice and initiate safeguarding procedures where required.
