THE TIME TO SHARE BEREAVEMENT GROUPthis external link will open in a new window - Is run by experienced practitioners at the Howgill Family Centre.  This group is for children aged 3-12 years to attend with a parent/carer who live in the Copeland area.  If they have experienced the death of a significant person in their lives.  They can self-refer or be referred by other agencies such as school or health.

CANCER CAREthis external link will open in a new window - Provides support for children bereaved for any reason and anyone affected by cancer themselves or in their family.  They offer a wide range of services from creative/play therapies for children from 3 years old and counselling and complementary therapy for adults. 

PAPYRUSthis external link will open in a new window - Provides confidential support and advice to young people and anyone worried about a young person.  They run a national helpline, HOPELineUKthis external link will open in a new window, including text and email services, staffed by a team of mental health professionals who provide practical help and advice to vulnerable young people and to those concerned about any young person who may be at risk of suicide.  PAPYRUS offers a range of training sessions aimed at raising awareness of the prevalence of young suicide and acts on the experiences of their members and service users by campaigning for the protection of young people at risk of suicide.

NORTH CUMBRIA HOSPITALS NHS TRUST BEREAVEMENT SERVICE - This services is primarily aimed at patients and their families being cared for within the Trust dealing with End of Life or Bereavement issues.  They have a Bereavement Specialist Nurse at Cumberland Infirmary, a Bereavement Nurse at West Cumberland and a Bereavement Officer at each site.  Advice and support for those dealing with end of Life and / or bereavement issues (patients, their families and staff).  Signposting to appropriate services for on-going bereavement support.  Bereavement Office - Cumberland Infirmary 01228 616878 / West Cumberland Hospital 01946 523309.

UNIVERSITY HOSPITALS OF MORECAMBE BAY- Bereavement Service offers bereavement support for those patients and families cared for by the Trust who experience the death of a loved one in any department within hospital. Parents/guardians and family are offered face to face and telephone support around the time of the death of a baby/child. This includes an age specific memory box (provided by the Tigerlily Trust), bereavement keepsakes, and signposting to other child bereavement services.

Two WTE Bereavement Specialist Nurses work at Furness General Hospital and the Royal Lancaster Infirmary. They cross cover Westmorland General Hospital.

The Trust bereavement nurses also offer a service to the local Coroner’s Office, providing support for those families experiencing a community death (that meets certain referral criteria – a child death falls under this criteria).

The Trust has 2 Bereavement Midwifes (1 WTE) working at FGH and RLI, they support women and families experiencing any baby loss through pregnancy, and up till age 14 days post-delivery.
